Common questions

Does Excel to PDF use workbook print areas?

Yes. The converter respects available print areas, page orientation, scaling, and sheet order.

Can CSV files be converted to PDF?

Yes. CSV and TSV are accepted along with XLS, XLSX, and ODS formats.

Fix common spreadsheet-to-PDF layout problems

PDFit reads the saved workbook print setup. Prepare the source layout before uploading when columns are missing, pages multiply, or a CSV needs formatting.

The PDF cuts off columns or spreads one table across pages

The workbook print area excludes columns, or the table is wider than the printable page.

What to do

  1. Open the source workbook in a spreadsheet editor and set the print area to the exact rows and columns you need.
  2. Choose a suitable paper size and orientation. Set scaling to one page wide with the height left automatic if the table needs several pages.
  3. Check print preview, save the workbook, then upload the saved file here and inspect the first and last columns in the downloaded PDF.

What to expect

The converter uses the saved print area, orientation, and scaling to render the intended columns.

Check before you share

  • PDFit has no on-page print-area or scaling controls. Very wide tables can become unreadably small when forced to one page wide.

Fit a short spreadsheet on one PDF page

A small budget or summary becomes two or more pages because of saved print settings or an oversized print area.

What to do

  1. In the source workbook, restrict the print area to the summary rather than an entire sheet.
  2. Set the desired paper size and orientation, then choose one page wide and one page tall in the source print setup.
  3. Confirm that the text is readable in print preview, save, and convert the updated workbook here.

What to expect

A short sheet can render as one page when its saved print setup fits the content to one page.

Check before you share

  • This setting belongs to each source sheet; PDFit does not combine several sheets into one page. Large tables may need multiple pages to remain readable.

Give a CSV table a readable PDF layout

CSV stores cell values, but not workbook print areas, column widths, page orientation, or styling.

What to do

  1. Open the CSV or TSV in a spreadsheet editor and check that its delimiter places values in the correct columns.
  2. Adjust column widths and text wrapping, set the print area and page setup, then save a formatted XLSX or ODS copy.
  3. Upload that saved workbook here and check the resulting PDF for clipped cells and unwanted blank pages.

What to expect

The formatted workbook supplies the print layout that the original text-only table could not store.

Check before you share

  • Direct CSV and TSV conversion is supported, but those formats cannot carry a custom workbook layout. Verify identifiers, dates, and leading zeroes when importing the source data.
